Important — Ontario Common-Law Rights
Under Ontario law, common-law spouses do not automatically inherit when there is no Will. The estate bypasses the partner entirely and goes directly to children or other relatives. However, you may have the right to make a Dependant Support Claim under the Succession Law Reform Act or an equitable claim. Contact us immediately if this applies to your situation.

It does not account for partial intestacy, advancements, dependant support claims, or complex family structures. This does not constitute legal advice. The $350,000 preferential share applies to spouses; common-law partners have no automatic intestacy rights in Ontario.
